Complete & Incomplete Proteins
What are complete and incomplete proteins?
Complete protiens contain the 9 Essential Amino Acids in the correct order. Complete proteins are derived from animal-based products (exception – soybeans).
Incomplete proteins, on the other hand, lack one or more of the essential amino acids. However, our bodies can form an essential amino acid by combining two or more of the incomplete proteins together - but our diet must first provide the incomplete proteins. Incomplete protiens are derived from plant-based products.
