Glycogen

What is glycogen?

Glycogen is a polysaccharide composed of chaings of glucose, manufactured in the body and stored in the liver and muscle.

As a storage form of glucose, liver glycogen can be broken down by the liver to maintain a constant blood glucose level when carbohydrates intake is inadequate.
